Sattu sharbat recipe is mostly prepared in two different ways – sweet and savoury. Though both the drinks taste completely different from each other, but they are equally delicious and nutritious. Today, I am sharing the Sattu sweet recipe with you. But before starting the conversation about the Sattu drink recipe, let me introduce you to Sattu.
What is Sattu?
Sattu is nothing but a flour prepared with roasted black Chickpeas. It is a long process of preparing Sattu. First, the black Chickpeas are boiled in water for some time and then sundried completely. Then the Chickpeas are dry roasted in sand and finally ground to a fine dust.
But now a days, roasted black Chickpeas are easily available in market. Many people have come up with a shortcut idea of preparing Sattu at home. They directly grind the roasted black Chickpeas in food processor or grinder.
On the other hand, readymade packs of Sattu is easily available in the market, especially in Bihar, UP, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Orissa.
Sattu is a very healthy flour and regular consumption of Sattu makes people healthy and strong.
Recipe of Sattu
Sattu is one of the most versatile flours that I have ever seen. It is used to prepare flat breads like Sattu ka paratha, Sattu ki poori; savoury snacks like Litti, Bati and desserts like Sattu ke laddo, Sattu ki barfi and many more. It is heavily used to prepare summer drinks in India as an energy booster. Now a days, for its health benefits, it is even used in baking too.
I have been brought up by having different recipes of Sattu, especially Sattu drink since my childhood. I still remember how my mom used to prepare a glass of chilled Sattu ka sharbat during summers when I came back to home after fighting with the scorching sun. The drink was so refreshing and proved to be a complete energy booster. She always used to prepare the sattu sweet recipe drink.
The first time I had the namkeen sattu sharbat was in my college days from a street food vendersā cart. In fact, I used to have the sattu drink recipe for weight loss as breakfast during those days.
Sattu ka sharbat is a very simple and easy recipe. It requires very limited and easily available ingredients to get prepared. The best part of preparing the beverage recipe is that it gets prepared very quickly without investing much time and effort and it makes you feel full for a longer period. So, most of the people have it at morning.
Sattu Sharbat recipe is one of my favourite energy drinks recipes and I often prepare it during summers. In fact, whenever I go for a trip to India, my dad always purchases few organic Sattu packs for me to carry back here. In London, Sattu is not easily available. So, I prepare it at home when my stock gets over.
The Sattu sharbat recipe with step by step photos and instructions have been provided in the āInstructionā section of the recipe. But before directly jumping into the recipe, let me share few interesting things about recipe of Sattu drink.

How to make Sattu sharbat?
To prepare a Sattu sharbat recipe, first thing we need to do is to chop some Mint leaves and accumulate all the ingredients at an armās distance to prepare the recipe of sattu.
First, add the Sattu into the glass and add cold water into it. Stir the Sattu vigorously to prepare a lump free Sattu drink.
For the recipe of sattu drink, I have added Sugar and rock Salt. Many people also use jaggery water as sweetener, instead of sugar, to make the sattu drink recipe healthier.
For the Sattu ka sharbat, I have used black Pepper, Lemon juice and Mint leaves to enhance its flavour. To make the drink chilled, I have added some ice cubes too. But if you prefer lesser chilled drink then you can skip it and use only cold water to prepare the sattu sweet recipe.

Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoon Sattu (Roasted black chickpea flour)
- 1 tablespoon Mint leaves, chopped
- Ā½ Lemon, to squeeze fresh juice
- 1 tablespoon Sugar
- Ā¼ teaspoon Rock Salt
- 1 pinch of Ground Black pepper
- 2-3 Ice cubes
- 1 cup or 250 ml of Water
Instructions:
- Add Sattu into the glass.
- Pour water into the glass and mix it nicely with the help of a spoon. Make sure that there are no lumps.
- Add Sugar, rock Salt and ground black Pepper one by one into the glass and mix it until the Sugar gets completely dissolved.
- Squeeze fresh Lemon juice into the glass and give a stir.
- Add chopped Mint leaves and stir it.
- Add 2-3 ice cubes into the glass.
Note: Sattu settles down at the bottom of the glass if you keep Sattu drink recipe for a while after preparing it. Give a stir with a spoon before drinking.
Serving Instruction
Always serve a chilled glass of Sattu sharbat recipe. To enjoy the best flavour and taste, it is always better to serve immediately after preparation.
