Grapefruit Juice is a superb summer refreshment drink and one of the healthiest drinks too. This tropical fruit juice is the amalgamation of Grapefruit juice, chilled water, Sugar and black Salt. It is a perfectly balanced drink which has the amazing chemistry of sweetness and tanginess. It is one of most eye catchy fruit juice which has an inimitable colour to easily attract you to this refreshment.
Summer is knocking at our doors and nothing can be better than a glass of chilled citrus fruit juice to defeat the Sun. Undoubtedly, a glass of fruit juice is thousand times heathier and yummier than any fizzy drinks. Just a little bit of effort can make a huge healthy change in our lives.
In India, Grapefruit is not very commonly found. In fact, I have never seen this fruit there. But after coming to the UK, I have seen this fruit in almost every super market and fruit shops. Its very popular in London and easily available too.
When I saw this fruit for the first time, I was very curious to know about its taste. So, I picked a couple of Grapefruits into my basket for preparing its juice. After preparing this drink, I just loved its soothing peach colour and its citrus taste. My family loved the drink too. Now, it has become one of our favourite summer drinks.
Grapefruit Juice is a very easy and instant recipe. It hardly takes 10-15 minutes of your effort to come to your glasses. It is a full proof recipe, and nothing can go wrong if you have the key ingredient i.e. Grapefruit with you. To enhance the taste of the drink, few basic ingredients are added to the drink.
Before jumping into the recipe, I like to share few interesting facts about this tropical fruit.

What is Grapefruit?
Grapefruit is a subtropical citrus fruit. It is large sized fruit with sour to partially sweet taste. It has beautiful red pulp inside. It is a cross hybrid of sweet Orange and Pomelo fruits.

  • It is a boon for anyone who is more diet conscious.
  • It is low in calorie and helps in reducing weight.
  • It is good for our immunity.

Addition of grapefruit in our regular diet can reduce our many health issues. If you are looking for weight loss, then grapefruit can become your reliable partner. The best part is, we can easily add it to our regular diet.
In this recipe, I have added Sugar, because I wanted to add a bit of sweetness to the natural tanginess of the grapefruit. But if you are trying to avoid sugar from your diet, then you can skip Sugar. The taste may vary a bit, but the drink would become much healthier as Grapefruit has its own taste and flavour.
I have added a pinch of black Salt to enhance the taste of the juice as black Salt goes well with citrus fruit juices. I have not added any ice cubes in this drink, but you can opt this as well, in case you would want to have it more chilled.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Grapefruit
  • ½ cup of cold water
  • Sugar to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Black Salt

Instructions:
  1. Cut and peel off Grapefruit.

  2. Place a Muslin cloth on a mixing bowl.
  3. Take out all the fruit pieces in the cloth.
  4. Take out juice by squeezing it.

    Note: You can also take out juice by running the fruit chunks into a juicer.

  5. Add water, Sugar, black Salt and mix it well.

Serving Instruction
Transfer the Grapefruit Juice straight into the glass. Always serve the juice immediately for best result. Garnish the glass with a slice of Grapefruit. Serve chilled and enjoy the drink to boost your energy during summers.
