Gulab jamun recipe easy with step by step photos and instructions have been provided in the ‘Instructions’ section of the recipe. I have included few tips in the recipe to prepare soft and juicy instant gulab jamun.
Tips to prepare soft and perfect instant gulab jamun
- Knead the gulab jamun mix with milk instead of water. It gives richness to the sweet and makes it softer in texture.
- Always fry the gulab jamun balls in low medium or low flame or else the gulab jamun will not get cooked properly.
- Fry them till dark brown in colour otherwise the gulab jamun will be faded in colour after going to the syrup.
- Use ghee or small portion of ghee in oil for frying the gulab jamun balls. It gives nice aroma to the dessert.
- Always take wide and deep utensil for the syrup where gulab jamun can dip completely without overcrowding.
- Don’t skip saffron and cardamoms into the sugar syrup. It gives perfect flavour to the Gulab jamun.
How to make gits gulab jamun?
For the instant gulab jamun recipe, I always prepare the sugar syrup first. In a large pan, add measured amount of sugar, water and allow it to boil. Let the syrup boil for 5-6 minutes until it becomes slightly sticky. Stir the content in between so that the sugar gets dissolved quickly.
To flavour up the sugar syrup, I have added cardamom and saffron sticks. You can use rose water too into the syrup if you like.
To prepare the Gulab jamun recipe easy, pour the gits mix into a large mixing bowl and then add milk slowly into the mix and make a sticky dough. Don’t worry as the dough will absorb the moisture with time.
Then grease your hands with some ghee to prepare balls. Pinch small amount of dough and make smooth and crack-free balls using your palms. Make same sized balls with the remaining dough.
On the other hand, put a pan on flame and add ghee or oil to deep fry the balls. Ghee (Clarified Butter) gives a nice aroma to the dessert. But many people prefer healthy oil over ghee. But I suggest adding some ghee in the oil for frying the jamuns. It gives a nice flavour to it. I have added 1 heaped tablespoon ghee in oil for frying the balls. Put the flame in low and wait until the oil is ready.
Add the balls into the oil or ghee when it is medium heated. It should not be too hot or too low in temperature. Fry the balls in low flame and don’t over crowd the pan. You need to be patient at this stage. Fry the balls till dark in colour. The balls will pop up double in size when they go into the hot sugar syrup and the colour of the Gulab jamun will get a bit faded. Fry the balls and drain the excess oil with strainer and directly dunk them in hot sugar syrup. Soak the jamuns in syrup for at least 10-15 minutes.
