I am a crazy fan of Indian snacks easy recipes and prefer to prepare them at home rather than buying them from outside. Especially, Chaat is one among them. So, I frequently prepare Green chutney and Red chutney to accompany the evening snacks, especially when I plan to prepare chaat recipes at home. I serve my handmade Chaat to both the elders and kids of my family without a pinch of hesitation. A homemade snack is always an ideal treat for each member of any family.
How to make Red Chutney for Chaat?
To prepare the Red chutney, I have used Kashmiri red chillies. Kashmiri red chillies are less hot and gives a fabulous colour to the chutney. You can use any variety of dry red chillies according to your preferable taste. I always prefer lesser heaty taste for the Red chilli garlic chutney, that’s why I have used Kashmiri red chillies.
To reduce the heaty taste, it’s always better to deseed them before use. I have soaked the red chillies in hot water for half an hour. Even this step helps to reduce the heat of the chillies.
Normally, Red chutney can be prepared with only three basic ingredients – red chillies, garlic cloves and salt. But I have added lemon juice to the preparation. It gives a tangy touch to the chutney and reduces the chilli hot taste too. I have added a little Chaat masala too into the chutney. The addition of chaat masala makes the flavour of the Red chutney magical. I have added little bit of sugar too into the Red chutney recipe. It enhances the taste of the chutney. You must try it once to believe me.
To make the Red Chutney, I have added all the ingredients into a jar of a blender and made a smooth paste. I have added water for making the paste. Always try to use lesser amount of water for the recipe of Red Chutney. Addition of too much water makes the chutney runny.
Many Chutney recipes have already been shared in my previous posts. You can check few of them like

How to store Green Chutney?
After preparing the Red Chutney, transfer the content into an airtight container and you can refrigerate it for 5-7 days. The taste of the Red chutney will remain the same.
You can make the chutney frozen too and store it for couple of months. You can put the chutney in the icing tray and keep it in freezer. But according to me, the fresh Chutney tastes best.
