Avocado Milkshake is one of healthiest drinks in summer. It is one of the most popular drinks in Asia with ranges of varieties. Avocado Milkshake with Vanilla Ice-cream is one of them. This recipe is prepared with the exotic fruit Avocado, Milk, Honey and some Vanilla ice cream. It is ideally served chilled and can be had any time of the day to make it special.
While I was in India, I never heard about Avocado Milkshake. In fact, I have never tried Avocados while I have been there. I had seen Avocados in the exotic fruit section of supermarkets but never thought of picking them in my basket.
After coming to the UK, I have seen huge popularity and availability of Avocadoes in supermarkets as well as vegetable shops. One day I bought a Spicy Avocado-Chicken Wrap and I loved the creamy element of the wrap. Since then my bonding started with Avocados.
At the beginning of this bond, I was not aware of using this creamy fruit in desserts and beverages. I had only used it in savouries. But slowly I noticed the use of Avocados in desserts and drinks. But personally, I had never experienced it before.
On one sunny day, after coming back from work, suddenly I had craving for a chilled milkshake. Then when I have checked my fridge and accumulated all the available ingredients, I instantly planned for this milkshake. After having a sip, I was floating in the magical taste of the drink. This Avocado Milkshake with Vanilla Ice-cream is the result of that sudden experiment. It is elegant and gorgeous in all aspects.
My family, especially my little one, loves the drink very much. Now Avocado Milkshake with Vanilla Ice-cream has become one of the most frequently prepared drinks during summers.
Types of Avocado Shakes
- Avocados are mixed with different flavours and fruits to prepare different shakes like Avocado-Mango Shake, Avocado-Banana Shake, Avocado-Strawberry Shake and many more.
- In few places, it is also prepared just by mixing Avocados with Milk.
- Many vegans prepare Avocado drinks using Almond milk too.
Before jumping into the recipe, I would like to share few interesting tricks and tips to choose perfect avocados for any preparation and its health benefits with you.
How to choose Avocadoes for any dish?
- Always choose ripe and ready to eat Avocadoes for best results but make sure they are firm in texture.
- Press the avocadoes with your finger and if you feel that it’s going inside too easily or is too soft from inside then it’s too ripe and can end up being mushy which we never want.
- If the Avocadoes are bright green in colour and the skin is too hard then those are not ready to eat.
- If you have enough time, then you can buy green raw Avocadoes and wrap them in paper for 1-2 days. They will be ready to use.
- The perfectly ripe and firm Avocadoes have dark skin colour than normal ones. If you press the skin and it yields pressure, then it’s perfect for use.
Health benefits of Avocadoes
- Avocados are full of good fats, nutrients and fibre.
- It is a good source of Potassium which helps to control blood pressure level.
- Avocadoes are great source of monounsaturated oleic acid which are extremely beneficial for our heart.
- Its fibre helps to reduce weight and great for our metabolism.
- Avocados are powerhouse of antioxidants which are boon for our eyesight.
I don’t like any fruit milkshakes to be runny in consistency. But that does not mean I like too dense milkshakes too. To achieve that moderate consistency in this beverage, I have used one ripe Avocado and two cups of Milk. I have used crushed ice too which cleverly diluted the drink with icy touch.
I have added Honey instead of Sugar to uphold health with taste. If you like you can use Sugar too. It will not make any difference in taste.
Last but not the least, my magical ingredient Vanilla Ice-cream. Why Vanilla Ice-cream???
The reason behind this is that Avocadoes absorb the flavour of Vanilla amazingly like they are made for each other. Avocado itself does not have any strong flavour but it catches the mild flavour of vanilla ice-cream outstandingly and creates a divine drink with extraordinary taste and flavour. You must try it once to believe me.

Ingredients:
- 1 ripe Avocado, peeled and destoned
- 2 cups of full cream Milk, chilled
- 2 scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream
- Honey to taste
- Handful of crushed Ice (Optional)
Instructions:
- Cut the Avocado into half and remove the stone.
- With the help of a spoon, scoop out the flesh from the skin.
- Transfer it into a jar of mixer or blender.
- Add half of Milk, into the jar and blend till it becomes smooth paste.
- Add Honey, Ice-Cream and some crushed ice into the jar.
- Blend the ingredients for 30 seconds.
- Then add rest of the milk and blend it again for few seconds.
Serving Instruction
Pour the Avocado Milkshake with Vanilla Ice-cream straight into the glasses. It’s always better to drink Avocado drink immediately before it changes its colour. Serve chilled and enjoy every sip of the delicious healthy drink.
