Summer is on and the best part is sweet-juicy mangoes are easily available in the market now. According to me, Mangoes are the best thing to happen in summer. I have never met a single person in my life who does not love mangoes. From kids to aged, everyone loves mangoes and the whole nation waits for the summer to enjoy the fresh, firm and ripe mangoes. Mangoes are famous for its supreme taste, outstanding flavour and texture.
Mango milkshake recipe or Mango shake is one of the most popular drinks in the subcontinents of south Asia. It is prepared in almost every house multiple time during summer. In fact, Mango milkshake is one of the most sought-after summer drinks of India sold by small street venders to renowned restaurants during summer. When we come back home after fighting with the scorching sun, nothing can be better than a chilled glass of Mango milk shakes to quench our thirst.
Mango shake or mango smoothie is one of the easiest smoothie recipes that I have ever prepared. A perfect breakfast milkshake recipe for students and beginners. It hardly takes 5 minutes to come to your glass. Only three basic ingredients are enough to prepare this incredible drink.

What types of mangoes to be used for Mango milkshake recipe?
There are many different varieties of Mangoes available in market during the season. It is quite tough to choose any specific variety to prepare the Mango milkshake recipe. Some of the famous varieties include Alphonso, Kesari, Langra, Himsagar, Amrapali, Badami and many more.
To prepare perfect Mango milk shake, I highly recommend using sweeter mangoes that have less fibre. The sweeter mangoes help to use less sweetener for the recipe and mangoes with less fibre gives better texture to the Mango shake recipe. I always use Alphonso for Mango shake and it works great for the recipe.

Can I use canned Mango pulp for Mango shake?
Yes, of course. You can use mango pulp for the recipe. In fact, you can enjoy the awesome drink in off season of mangoes with these canned mango pulp. But one thing needs to be taken care of while using readymade mango pulp, it is sweeter in taste as compared to fresh ripe mangoes. So, less sugar should be added to the Mango shake recipe when you are using canned mango pulp.
I always recommend using can of Alphonso mango pulp and Kesar mango pulp for the recipe. These two varieties work best for the recipe.

Can I use frozen Mango chunks for Mango shake?
Yes, frozen mango cubes can also be used for Mango milkshake recipe. But I recommend not to use ice cubes while you are using frozen mango pieces for the recipe. When juicy mangoes are easily available in market, I always cut and preserve them in freezer in zip lock pouches to enjoy the Mango milkshake when mangoes disappear from market.
Now-a-days, mango puree or Mango pulp and frozen mango chunks are easily available in the stores of India which help people to enjoy the taste of king of fruits at any season. Most of the restaurants use these products to prepare Mango dessert throughout the year.

What type of milk to be used for Mango shake?
There is no fixed rule to use any variety of milk for the Mango milkshake recipe. I always use full cream milk for the recipe, but toned milk, skimmed milk or semi skimmed milk can also be used for Mango shake or Mango Smoothie. You can use any of these varieties according to your preference.
If you like to prepare a vegan mango shake then you can also use soya milk, almond milk or coconut milk instead of dairy product.

What sweetener to be used for Mango shake?
Mostly for the Mango milkshake recipe sugar is used as a sweetener. But if you like to avoid sugar then you can use honey or grated jaggery too for the recipe.

Tips to prepare perfect Mango Milkshake
There is no hard and fast rule or measurements to prepare a Mango milkshake. You can vary the measurement of any of the ingredients according to your own choice. Using the same ingredients, you can prepare Mango shake recipe of different taste, flavour and texture.
  • If you like thin mango shake, then increase the amount of milk and reduce the amount of mango. Additionally, you can use ice cubes to make the Mango shake thinner.
  • If you like super thick mango shake with strong fruity flavour, then increase the amount of mango and reduce the amount of milk. Use full cream milk and don’t use ice cubes for the recipe.
  • If you like Mango shake with strong fruity flavour but of moderate consistency then add more mangoes, less milk and some ice cubes.
You can use external elements too to enhance the taste of the Mango shake.
  • You can add cream in Mango milk shake for extra creamy texture. Whipped cream can also be topped over the Mango shake for café like experience.
  • You can add ice cream to make Mango shake chilled and irresistible. But one thing needs to be taken care of, only vanilla ice cream or mango ice cream works great in Mango milkshake recipe. Other flavours do not go great with the flavour of mango. But if you are in the mood of experimenting then you can use some Butterscotch ice cream or something alike.
  • If you like to experience some bite within the Mango shake, then you can add some chopped cashew nuts within the drink.

  • Mango shake is an ideal drink to gain weight because its rich in protein. It’s a great companion for underweight people.
  • It is a good source of iron which is good for anaemia patients and if you are pregnant.
  • It contains Vitamin A which is good for our eyesight.
  • The nutrients present in the Mango shake helps to boost our immunity system.

How to make mango shake?
Different ranges of sweet ripe mangoes are easily available in the market of India in season. But it’s quite difficult to get those varieties of mangoes in London. Though local varieties are quite regularly available, but it does not work great for Mango milkshake. Alphonso mangoes are available here but not always. So, I am highly dependent on canned mango pulp here. I have used Alphonso mango pulp for the recipe.
For the Mango milkshake recipe, I have used full cream milk. I always prefer moderately thick Mango shake. So, I have added few ice cubes for the recipe. This resists the mango milkshake to become super thick and at the same time makes the drink chilled too.
As I mentioned above, I have used readymade mango pulp which are sweeter in taste. So, I have used lesser amount of sugar for the Mango shake. You can adjust the amount of sugar according to your preferred taste.
To prepare the Mango shake, I have added mango pulp, full cream milk, sugar and some ice cubes into the large jar of mixer grinder and close the lid. Then I have run it till all the ingredients get mixed nicely or evenly.
Today, I have prepared simple mango milk shake which is a comfort drink for summer. I have not used any special elements like whipped cream, condensed milk or ice cream for the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Mango Pulp or 2 large ripe Mangoes, Alphonso or any sweet variety of Mango
  • 1½ cups or 375 ml full cream Milk
  • 1½ tablespoons Sugar (Quantity may vary according to taste)
  • 3-4 Ice cubes (Optional)
Measurement: 1 cup = 250ml

Instructions:
  1. Add Mango pulp or mango chunks into the jar of a mixer grinder or blender.

  2. Add Milk into the jar.

  3. Add sugar and Ice cubes into the jar.

  4. Close the lid of the jar. Run the blender for a minute until they turn into a smooth velvety smoothie.


Serving Instruction
Pour the Mango milk shake straight into serving glasses. Serve it chilled or at normal temperature. To enjoy the best flavour and taste, it is always better to serve immediately after preparation.
