Tahini sauce recipe easy aka tahini sauce lemon is one of the essential components of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and East Asian cuisine. It is one of the most versatile sauce recipes which is used in myriad ways to enhance the taste, texture and flavour. Homemade tahini sauce is basically a smooth, creamy, savoury and nutty flavoured sauce prepared with tahini, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, salt and some water. It is a super quick and ridiculously easy recipe prepared with only few basic ingredients and gets prepared within 10 minutes. This tahini sauce recipe looks exactly like market bought ones but tastes way better than that. What is tahini sauce?

Tahini sauce is a rich, creamy, smooth, tangy and flavoured sauce recipe which is used as a staple in middle eastern cuisine. Its vegan, gluten free, easy to make and can be refrigerated. The basic tahini sauce recipe is the amalgamation of tahini paste, lemon juice, garlic, salt and some water. But myriad variation can be done by adding different elements into the dish for different taste, texture and flavour.

Though tahini sauce is very popular in middle east and few subcontinents in Asia and America, but many people are still not aware of the term ‘TAHINI’.


What is Tahini?

Tahini is a smooth, thick, creamy and unique flavoured recipe prepared with sesame seeds. It is a versatile condiment which is basically used as a flavour inducer or flavour enhancer because of its nutty aroma. It is one of the most essential components of Mediterranean and middle eastern cuisine which is used to prepare myriad recipes. But the limelight falls on the fact that it is an important ingredient for world-famous dip recipes hummus and baba ganoush. Yes, tahini is one of the most essential components of these two signature dishes.

Tahini recipe is basically sesame paste mostly prepared with hulled sesame seeds. But other varieties of sesame seeds which are easily available in market like unhulled, sprouted, toasted, raw can also be used to prepare tahini of different flavour, texture, taste and colour. However, the traditional tahini recipe is prepared with white hulled sesame seeds because it comes smoother in texture and with minimal or no bitterness. Now a day’s tahini is quite popular, and you can find it in many super stores other than middle eastern shops. Even you can go for online purchase where you will get many options.


Difference between tahini and tahini sauce

Many people think tahini paste and tahini sauce are both the same. Though they are close to each other but are not the same.

Tahini paste is a thick paste of sesame seeds which can be diluted with oil. No extra flavour is added to it.

On the other hand, tahini sauce is a flavoured sauce prepared with tahini paste, lemon juice and other flavouring components like garlic, parsley etc.


Variation in tahini sauce recipe

Other than basic tahini sauce recipe, it can be prepared in different ways by adding different elements.

  • If you like heaty taste into the sauce, then you can add little cayenne or other hot variety of pepper into the sauce.
  • If you want some extra flavour of herbs then you can add herbs of your choice like finely chopped parsley, dill, coriander leaves or mint leaves (any of the one). In fact, you can blend the herb with the sauce to prepare green tahini sauce.
  • If you like sweet taste in tahini sauce, then you can add maple syrup or sugar into it.

Tahini sauce lemon aka tahini sauce recipe easy is an incredibly simple recipe which can be prepared very easily at home using only few basic ingredients which are easily available in any kitchen pantry except tahini if you don’t go for homemade tahini paste. You just need either a good blender or a food processor to prepare it. That’s all. The best part of the recipe is that after preparing it, you can store it in refrigerator up to 5 days. So, there is nothing wrong to prepare it in little bit extra quantity.

  • First, it can be used as a spread or you can drizzle it to prepare wraps, sandwiches etc.
  • You can directly serve tahini sauce as a dip with falafel, grilled veggies, grilled meat and even with fresh veggies like cucumber and carrots.
  • It can be used as salad dressing in different types of salad. Just needed to be added some water to dilute the sauce to use as salad dressing.
  • Now a day’s pasta recipes are also prepared with tahini sauce.
  • Tahini sauce can also be served with pittas.

How to make aloo tikki chaat?

To prepare the tahini sauce recipe easy, first take a jar of a grinder or food processor. Then add tahini paste into it. Add peeled and sliced garlic cloves, cumin powder, salt, fresh lemon juice (strained), olive oil and some water into the jar. For some extra flavour and heaty taste, I have added black pepper powder into it. But it is completely optional. You can skip it.

Then close the lid of the jar and pulse it to a smooth paste. Adjust the amount of water according to your desired consistency for the sauce. Your tahini sauce lemon is ready to serve. Store it a clean dry container and refrigerate it.

Ingredients:

1 Cup = 250 ml

  • ½ cup Tahini
  • ¼ cup fresh Lemon juice, without pulp and seeds
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon Cumin powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black Pepper powder (Optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ tablespoon Olive oil
  • ¼ cup Water



Instructions:
  1. Take a jar of a grinder or food processor and add ½ cup tahini paste into it.
  2. Add peeled and sliced garlic cloves, ¼ teaspoon cumin powder, ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder and salt into it.
  3. Add ¼ cup strained fresh lemon juice (make sure no pulp or seeds are there), ½ tablespoon olive oil and ¼ cup water into the jar.
  4. Close the lid of the jar and pulse it to a smooth paste. Your tahini sauce recipe easy is ready.
  5. Store it a clean dry container and can refrigerate it for 5 days.
