Can I use kosher salt for the recipe?
Yes, you can. Kosher salt can be used instead of regular salt. Salt is just added to enhance the taste of the sauce.

Can I use honey for chocolate syrup?
According to me, it’s a no. It makes the chocolate syrup too thick and would not bring out the perfect texture.

How to store chocolate syrup?
Allow the chocolate syrup to cool down completely. Take an airtight, sterilized or washed and completely dry container to store the syrup. You can pour the chocolate syrup at room temperature into a container and store it into the refrigerator for 2 months.

Can I freeze chocolate syrup?
You can freeze it and thaw it before use. But the taste and texture will not be the same. I suggest not to freeze it.

How to make chocolate syrup?
To prepare the homemade chocolate syrup, first take a large dry saucepan. Then add sugar, cocoa powder in it and mix them nicely.
Add measured amount of water and mix it well. Put the pan on medium flame and stir it continuously with a whisker until the cocoa powder gets mixed evenly and there are no lumps.
Add salt and mix it well. Stir it until the chocolate syrup simmers. Then cook it in low flame for another 5 minutes until the chocolate syrup gets thickened but be careful that the syrup does not get thicker after cooling down.
Switch off the flame and put the pan down. Add vanilla extract and mix it well. Allow the chocolate syrup to cool down completely. Then store it a clean container or squeeze bottle.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup unsweetened Cocoa powder
  • ¾ cup Sugar
  • ¾ cup Water
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon Salt

Instructions:
  1. Take a saucepan and add ¾ cup sugar into it.

  2. Add ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder and mix it nicely with a whisker.

  3. Add ¾ cup water and whisk it well.

  4. Put it on the stove and cook it on medium flame. Stir it continuously until the cocoa powder gets mixed with water and the sugar get dissolved completely. Make sure there are no lumps.

  5. Add ½ teaspoon salt and give a nice mix.

  6. Cook over the medium flame until the chocolate syrup simmers. Then put the flame in low and cook for another 5 minutes to thicken the syrup. Stir in between on regular intervals.

  7. Switch off the flame and put the pan down.

  8. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and give a nice mix.

  9. Allow the chocolate syrup to completely cool off and store it in fridge in a container.

Serving Instruction
Serve the chocolate syrup recipe as dressing over the ice creams, brownies or cakes or prepare hot chocolate with it and enjoy the chocolatey taste.
