Variation in Halloween ghost bark
The best part of Halloween treats for kids is that it does not need to be perfect. In fact, imperfection works better on halloween treats ideas. I know it’s strange but it’s true. There is no hard and fast rule to prepare this ghastly bark. You can use your available ingredients and own creativity to prepare it.
- You can use choice of your chocolate like dark chocolate, milk chocolate and even white chocolate for the recipe. If you are using white chocolate, then you can add different vibrant colours into it for the bark.
- You can add choice of your filling into the bark. I have used peanut butter. But you can prefer to use nuts and shredded coconut instead of that. Just add them before setting the first layer of chocolate.
- The most interesting part is the decoration part. In this section, you can use your imagination to make the chocolate bark spooky.
How to make Halloween ghost bark?
To prepare this ghastly bark, first take half the amount of chocolate chips into a bowl and melt them either in microwave or on a double boiler on hob.
By using microwave, the bark recipe become quicker and easier. So, I have used microwave for this task.
Take a medium size microwavable bowl and add chocolate chips. Microwave it on medium power (800 Watt) for 10 seconds increments. Take the bowl out and stir it nicely in each interval. Repeat the process until the chocolate melts completely without any lumps.
Then spread the chocolate either on a wax paper or a plastic wrap lined tray or a plate and refrigerate until it gets set.
Add peanut butter into a medium bowl and microwave it on full power (800 Watt) for 15 seconds to make it runny. Then spread it evenly over the first hard layer of chocolate. Again, refrigerate it until it gets set.
Now, melt rest of the chocolate chip in same way and reserve 2 tablespoons melted chocolate for later use. Spread rest of the chocolate over second hard layer of peanut butter.
Take a small bowl and add white chocolate chip into it. Microwave it on medium power (800 Watt) for 10 seconds increments. Take the bowl out and stir it nicely in each interval. Repeat the process until the chocolate melts completely without any lumps.
Transfer the warm melted white chocolate with a spoon into an icing bag and cut the tip with a scissor.
Now make white circles to create ghost over the unset chocolate layer. Draw one end of each circle with the help of a pointy object like toothpick. Make some small dots too on blank areas for better look.
Transfer the reserved 2 tablespoons warm melted dark chocolate into an icing bag with a spoon and cut the tip with a scissor. Draw eyes and mouth of each ghost with the help of it. You can even use sparkle ball or black food colour to make eyes and mouth of ghost.
Put it back to the refrigerator and allow it to become hard for some time. Then take the bark out and remove it from the plastic wrapped tray. Trim the edges and cut them into pieces as desired.
