How to make kid friendly salmon curry?
To prepare the salmon recipe for kids, first I have washed, and pat dried the salmon fillets and cut them into small pieces. For the gravy, I have prepared a smooth paste with onion, tomato, ginger, garlic and kept it aside.
I have cooked the complete recipe in butter. Salmon tastes and smells divine when its cooked in butter. Don’t believe me? Just try it once and you can see the difference in result.
For the salmon fish curry, I have taken a pan and add some butter into it. Then I have pan fried the salmon pieces from both the sides for couple of minutes. Then kept them aside on a plate.
I have added some more butter into the pan and added the onion tomato paste into it. I have cooked it until it releases oil and then added the potato chunks into it. Put on the lid of the pan and cook them until potatoes are done.
You can even use your kids’ favourite squash into the curry instead of potatoes. Kids normally love potatoes. So, I have chosen potatoes for the fish curry for kids.
Then I have added the ground spices – cumin powder and coriander powder to flavour up the curry. I don’t prefer runny gravy for salmon fish curry and so I have added moderate amount of water into it. When the gravy started simmering, I have added the fried salmon pieces and cook them for 5 minutes in low flame. That’s all. Your delectable Kid friendly salmon curry is ready to serve.

Ingredients:

  • 150 grams salmon fillet, cut into 4 equal pieces
  • 1 small Onion, diced
  • ½ Tomato, deseeded and diced
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • ½ inch Ginger, diced
  • 1 medium Potato, medium cubes
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 and ½ tablespoons Butter to cook
  • ½ to ¾ cup of Water, for gravy as per needed

Instructions:
  1. Take the small jar of the mixer grinder and add diced onions, tomatoes, ginger and garlic into it.

  6. When the Butter starts bubbling add the Salmon pieces into the pan.

Note: First put the skin side down to the pan.

  7. Cook them in medium low flame for a minute and then turn the other side of the fillets and fry them in lowest flame for another minute.
  8. Transfer the Salmon pieces on a separate plate.

  10. Put the flame in low and add the onion masala paste into the pan (Step 2). Mix the masala quickly.

  16. Once the potatoes are done, add cumin powder, coriander powder and give a nice mix.

  17. Cook the masala in lowest flame for 1-2 minutes. Add 1 tablespoon of water if required during the time of cooking the masala.
